Privileged and Confidential
A special peak behind my client's creative curtain
Congratulations.
My client, Mr. Ali "Al" Jafar, has invited you to learn more about the extraordinary events ("The Incident") he experienced while employed at the prominent hedge fund Prism Capital ("The Firm"). He's also authorized you to discuss his story with your audience.
Before we proceed, however, I must remind you of my client's legally binding No Spoilers Agreement ("NSA"). While you're encouraged to profile my client ("The Character") with enthusiasm, and you're more than welcome to discuss how my client got into trouble in the first place ("The Crash"), please be advised any violation of the "No Spoilers" clause set forth in your agreement will result in swift and punitive legal action.
(Sorry, lawyer stuff.)
Anyway, in your possession is a package ("Promo Box") which contains an exclusive membership card ("Simon Says") and three items handpicked by my client. Each explains or contextualizes the tragic and surreal circumstances which thrust my client into the financial underworld and culminated with "The Incident."
Affidavit
My client's sworn testimony has been printed and bound in book format and will henceforth be referred to as "Leverage." If you haven't yet done so, please read this document in its entirety before examining the rest of the contents.
It's a banger.

Switchblade Comb
This seemingly innocuous object ("The Item") is my client's most cherished childhood keepsake, and its emotional and psychological significance morphs as his story unfolds and he becomes increasingly desperate.
Early on, this simple memento is a loving, if fraught, reminder of my client's mother and their contentious relationship. Later, "The Item" serves as a devastating metaphor for my client's broken childhood and rapidly unraveling life. Finally, "The Item" becomes a stand-in for my client's ill-advised attempt to extricate himself from a lifetime of escalating mistakes.
Misty-eyed?
Me too.
That damn comb gets me every time.
"36 Chambers" Playlist
My client is a certified hip hop head and he gravitated to the genre's so-called "Golden Age" during his difficult youth. He found solace in the art form's grim themes and inspiration in the practitioners' inventive wordplay—and he believes you will, too.
If you're already a fan of Wu Tang Clan, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Gang Starr, Mos Def, and other likeminded emcees, you'll find plenty of easter eggs and homages throughout Leverage. If you're new to the genre, you're in for a real treat, and you'll find re-reading the affidavit a deeper, richer experience.
At my client's request, I have created a playlist (“The Soundtrack”) for Leverage which you can add to your personal music library. Simply scan the QR codes on the attached inserts or click the following links: Apple Music || Spotify.
Legal Disclaimer: Many of the lyrics are extremely NSFW and—by today's cultural sensibilities—problematic. Alas, my client tells me this is an ever-present concern in the ever-evolving arena known as "art."
Happy listening.
In closing, my client thanks you for your interest and hopes you enjoyed this special peak behind his creative curtain.
We're very much looking forward to your analysis of Leverage and the items contained within this package.
Best regards,
Damon
