A Ghostly Tidbit
The end of an era
Update: In January 2026, I returned to Substack and learned a valuable lesson once and for all: NEVER try to monetize an email newsletter.
It’s been a busy few weeks.
I spent 25 hours laboring through an audiobook version of Crime and Punishment and twice as much time poring over the so-called first pass pages of Leverage. My completionist and perfectionist streaks die hard.
I’ve also long desired to decamp for different—and hopefully greener—pastures and I’ve finally decided to move to the Ghost creator platform.
There are many reasons why I’m changing gears, but ultimately I’m building my “author platform” for the long haul and I’d like to have more flexibility and more control over how I manage my online presence.
All things considered, Substack has been good to me. The platform is a powerful tool, and it provided me with the opportunity to grow as a writer and make some incredible connections.
In Ghost, however, I’ve found an open source technology that could take my solopreneur game to soaring new heights.

I’m excited about this new venture and I’ll be in construction mode during the next several weeks. If all goes well, I plan to start publishing via my new home base this spring.
See you on the flip side!
Author’s note: My old newsletter was titled Field Research and was housed on Substack.
