A Publishing Tidbit

Novel writing ain't for the faint of heart

A Publishing Tidbit

I sent a polished draft of my novel, Leverage, to a handful of beta readers and I’m aggregating early feedback, which is good so far! No rush for anyone still reading.

If the consensus take is the novel isn’t a total POS, my hope is to make final edits and start “querying” agents this summer.

Of note, my wife—who’s a tough critic, and who reads everything I write through a you’re-supposed-to-be-making-$300,000-per-year-I-can’t-believe-I married-you-WTF lens—breezed through it, which is a great sign.

The delusional narcissist in me thinks the novel is pretty dang good. Of course, the publishing industry is fundamentally and structurally broken, so the quality of the work is almost entirely divorced from its commercial prospects.

But, all pessimism aside, I love this project.

I’ll give the traditional publishing route the old college try, and if/when it doesn’t pan out, I’ll self-publish in as many channels as possible.
