By leveraging his lifelong love of film, literature, and video games—and drawing upon his decade-plus of surreal and disturbing experiences across Big Pharma and Wall Street—he crafted his blistering debut novel Leverage. The fearless satire was People’s book of the month, was named both a Best Book and Best Debut of 2025 by CrimeReads, and is a finalist for the Barry Award.
When Amran’s not hanging out with imaginary people in imaginary places, he enjoys biking around the great city of Chicago, indoor bouldering with his extraordinary wife Felicia, and reading comic books with his wildly imaginative and deeply ungrateful children.

Amran Gowani has had jobs as a mad scientist, drug hawker, Wall Street scumbag, and access journalist—and he hated all of them. To avoid succumbing to corporate sociopathy, Amran became a stay-at-home dad and started writing to keep himself sane.
After a sluggish start to his artistic endeavors, Amran channeled all of his rage, resentment, and wrath and wrote a vicious satire of Wall Street and Corporate America called Leverage. The batshit crazy novel was published by Simon & Schuster in August 2025, but unfortunately didn’t sell millions of copies, which is why Amran remains obscure and irrelevant. The book is destined to become a cult classic—though probably not until Amran's long been dead.
